We all were at some point. Start by reading a description of Kundalini Yoga and our classes here, then pick up a New Student Special pass and check out our schedule to sign up for your first class. If you are new to Kundalini Yoga, we recommend you start with “Beginners and Beyond” or “Gentle Kundalini Yoga”.
Before you come to class, make sure you take a look at the directions to Raj Yoga. Our Center is easy to get to but can be a little hard to spot. Keep an eye out for the neon red YOGA sign in the second story window.
Plan to arrive about ten minutes early so you can check in with the teacher (and pay for class if you haven’t done that yet). Wear comfortable, modest clothing that you feel good in exercising and sitting on the floor. White clothing made of natural fibers works especially well for energetic reasons, but it is not at all required. If you have a tendency to feel cold, layer up with a light sweatshirt. Restrooms are available for you to change in.
There are mats, blankets, and meditation cushions at the Center that are free to use, but you are welcome to bring your own. Chairs are also available if you have trouble sitting on the floor. We have a water fountain, but please bring your own bottle.
We usually serve yogi tea after each class, which is made from ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, peppercorns, and cloves. It is prepared with almond milk and honey and does not contain caffeine. Yogi tea has many health benefits, but we serve it to balance and ground you after the “high” of yoga class.
